GKN Wheels Celebrate Two Significant Milestones at Its Plants in China

GKN Wheels have recognised two significant events in China this month, reinforcing its continued development in the region.

GKN Lianyungang, formally known as GKN Huading Wheel Co. Ltd, celebrated becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of GKN on Tuesday November 1st and GKN Liuzhou held its 10th anniversary celebration on Thursday November 3rd. Together the plants serve global and regional OEM’s.

GKN Lianyungang, was previously a joint venture between GKN and Lianyungang Huading Wheel Co. Ltd and GKN completed the acquisition process in August 2016, to make the plant a wholly owned subsidiary. It will now be known as GKN Lianyungang Company Limited.

A celebration ceremony was held at the plant with GKN attendees including local government and county officials, Paul Wyatt, Managing Director of Wheels and Structures and Andrew Moss, President of GKN China.

John Zhao, General Manager of GKN Lianyungang, said: “Over the past few years we have been providing our customers with high quality products and services. The GKN Lianyungang plant is yet another exciting step for GKN Land Systems’ development in China, which will help us to serve our customers and lay a solid foundation for the supply of GKN wheels in China and Asia Pacific.”

GKN Lianyungang is located in the Jiangsu Province, Northern China and employs 150 people, manufacturing wheels for agricultural equipment; primarily for the tractor and combine-harvester markets and small wheel loaders servicing OEM’s both globally and locally.

Two days later in Guangxi Province, GKN Liuzhou, which was acquired by GKN in 2006, held a celebration to thank employees, customers and suppliers for ten years of business and continued support. 301 employees and 72 guests attended the ceremony where Paul Wyatt commented: “I clearly recall my first visit here at the start of 2011 and I take great pride in the significant progress that I have seen on every subsequent visit. I am proud of what has been achieved by everyone here in Liuzhou and am very excited about the next 10 years.”

During the celebration, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to open the brand new customer and product training room at the plant. The customer room showcases images of the Liuzhou plant and displays the many awards it has received, as well as its full range of products.
