Engineering Day helps promote future careers

Four GKN employees helped encourage school leavers and students to consider a future in the industry during an Engineering Day at the weekend.

The event took place on Saturday 4 July at Bantock House Museum, near Birmingham, UK.

Graeme Howe, Alison Ho, Jordan Ward and Jonathan Cable were all on hand for the day to talk to the teenagers about apprenticeships and careers available to them in the world of engineering.

Graeme Howe, HR Manager AutoStructures, said: “Organisers of the event were delighted that GKN were there and immediately invited us back next year.

“On the day our stand had a display to promote the whole of the company, with parts available for the public to see and a small game to play which tested the speed and dexterity of those having a go.  It was really well received by people of all ages.

“Some people who were at the park went home and came back with their teenage children who may be interested in entering engineering, so it was really positive.”
